First Funding Period

The first funding phase of the MWW Research Association began in 2013, the year it was founded, and concluded at the start of the second funding phase in early 2019. During this period, the association was comprised of three joint research projects managed by internal and external researchers. The projects addressed current issues in text, image, book and media studies, as well as the history of ideas and science in connection to collection-based research perspectives and were flanked by efforts to create a digital research infrastructure. In 2017 and 2018, the MWW staged three exhibitions which introduced its projects to the public and offered insights into the broad spectrum of holdings managed by the partner institutions. Technically and content-wise, our current activities build on the diverse accomplishments of past projects, such as the continued development of the Virtual Research Room and the results of the case study on writers’ libraries.
